So...separated the engine and found the clucth pedal was hard because the rivets that are on the actual clutch plate have separated, allowing the clutch springs to drop out to the bottom of the plate/cover(at the 6 o'clock position),thus wedge the same plate cover and cause it to jam against the clutch cover plate. This stopped the thrust bearing from moving to engage/disengage the clutch.
The clutch was replaced about a year ago and my buddy has'nt done any great amount of kms either. The clutch material shows good thickness and no real wear...my friend would also point out that it is a Britpart item bought from an independent LR place in the next department....oh well...read from that what you will but to date I personally, have never heard of the plate rivets coming away from any clutch whether in car or 4x4...first time for anything I guess
So....there you have it....just one to file away for possible solutions if another LR owner reports the same problem.
i would be straight on the phone to britparts going mental myself!! please you found the problem! don't forget to replace the fork too. i hear britparts make good one?!
