its allways best not to skim if possible but warping or damage from fire ring may mean you have too, in theory you fit same gasket as was fitted as piston height dictates, but skimming head moves valve nearer the head surface so people use the next gasket up to cater for that ,so if you skim, place flat edge over head and measure gap between valve head and face with feeler gauge ,inlets must have a gap of at least 31 thou and exhaust 33 thou
