I use it to potter down to my allotment, I may consider sorning over next winter but it will be a tight fit to keep it on my drive next to my XC90.

Still working through my (getting shorter) list of family and mates who want a ride in the 101. My nephew called in this morning. I was pre-warned so was checking the tyre pressures on it and the BM. The back two go down a few psi over a couple of weeks. I had to turn it around so the electric pump lead would reach from the BM's fag lighter. When pulling out of the road opposite i stalled it twice, which was odd. The biting point seemed to have moved down the pedal so i wasn't ready for the bite. Anyway all turned around and back onto the grass in front of the house and tyre was pumped up. Sam climbed in, seatbelt adjusted and i carefully backed out between my blue BM and his grey Volvo, muttering quietly, "hit the blue one not the grey one" which made him laugh! Stopped in the middle of the road to change direction and no clutch! A car appeared up my bumper and had to slap it quickly into low range and start it in gear to drive back out of the road. Checked the fluid in the reservoir to find it half empty and the middle 'clutch' tube dry.
Have had a look underneath and was pleasantly surprised to find a bone dry slave cylinder and a dripping wet flexible hose!
Drove down to MM 4X4 but they had just closed, which was good as i'd got the wrong trousers on. My wallet was still in my work trousers that hadn't gone into the wash yet so still contained the wallet.
I'll order a new one and slave cylinder (for when it fails) on the way to work on Monday.
I'm somewhat puzzled why the biting point would move lower when i have 'replace clutch' on the list of things to do before it starts slipping as it's not far below the upper limit normally?

Well imagine my joy at realising when i bought my kit of flexibles for the brakes i'd bought the complete kit that included the clutch flexible too, so i already had one in stores!
So this morning i spent an hour under the 101 replacing the flexi. Refilled the reservoir, cracked open the bleed nipple, a couple of pumps, closed the nipple and away we go! Took a chap who lives around the corner who is best known for owning military vehicles with tracks. First an Abbott self propelled gun and then a Striker.
His channel

Dropped him off to continue his walk then drove to Worcester to go shopping. 101 had other ideas and i lost the clutch again about 20 yards from a petrol station. I think it's trying to be nicer to me by breaking down in more thoughtful places. Yesterday right outside the house, today almost outside a garage to buy more brake fluid. I really felt like i'd been bent over the counter though, £6.99 for 500ml of DOT4. I've been paying £8.40 for a litre at GSF!
A guy on a pushbike stopped to tell me it was sick. I said yes, the clutch has just failed! I wonder how he knew, it wasn't like i was crying or anything as i've broken down before...
As it happened i didn't actually use any as i still had enough in the last litre bottle. I might have enough to bleed and top it up after fitting the new slave cylinder in which case the three bottles will be booked into stores :)
So i'll be off to MM 4X4 tomorrow for a slave cylinder

Not done a lot lately, have been tied up with some other things. Today got it down off the axle stands, it was laziness leaving it up on axle stands really but now I need them for something else...

Also pumped up one of the tyres. They are all scrap really anyway but there's no point letting it go down to the rim, its not done bad really as not pumped up for 6 years... The others were OK, the other rear's a bit squashy and the fronts never seem to lose any air which is ironic because they are remoulds with the tread virtually hanging off in places so will be replaced. The tubes must be good.

Bought some lead substitute additive for it.

The lady in the petrol station was interested to hear what I was buying it for, I don't think they sell very much of it.

Well i picked up the new slave cylinder on Thursday on the way to work. Decided to fit it yesterday. It went in alright and the number of threads in the hose hole must be the same as it tightened up with the cylinder being perfectly lined up with the holes in the bellhousing!
Opened the bleed nipple, 'let it all flow', out then tightened up the bleed nipple. Back in the cab and topped up. Tried the pedal, no resistance. Deep breathe... Back underneath and opened the nipple again, back in the cab, top up nd press the pedal. Back underneath to do up the nipple. Back into the cab, no pedal.
Thinks...
Has the rod come out of position? There was a bit of movement in and out.
Back underneath, remove the cylinder again and have a look with the torch. WHAT???
Into the house o grab some long nose pliers. Carefully remove a previous cylinder's rubber seal from the end of the cylinder that fits inside of the bellhousing. Back out with the torch and see that yes the rod does move, but it's still attached to the arm so the issue must be with the cylinder.
There must be some air left inside. So i let it dangle and even though the nipple was now pointing upwards with the hose attached at the top, fluid dribbled out when i opened the nipple which must have pushed out the air as when i bolted it back up in place and climbed back into the cab i finally got a pedal!
YAY!
The next bit had me reaching for the petrol can and matches again...
Starter motor just says ''i'm not going to Malvern tomorrow!'' But to me it just sounded like CLICK!
SWEAR!
CLICK!
More swearing!
CLICK!
Gets the hammer and smacks the starter.
CLICK!
Smacks the solenoid.
CLICK!
MORE swearing.

Grabs the socket set and extensions. Looked like a 13 or 14mm head. Neither go on. 15? No. 16? NO??? NO WAY is it bigger!
Didn't try the top bolt. It's harder to get at. It seems that i can't get a thin walled socket onto the head of the bolt. My ring spanners are thicker than the socket walls so they won't go on. Then i grab the trolley jack to lift it a bit to give me some more room to work. That's when i realise i'd only backed it far enough off the grass for me to lie on the drive to access the slave cylinder. The axle is still over grass so i can't jack it on the axle. My high lift jack isn't man enough to lift it on the chassis. I tried lifting it just behind the strap that hold the two spring leaves together but it was deforming the spring so lowered it. Got a hammer and smacked the starter a bit harder this time.
CLICK!
So it's now swapped places with the BM. IT'S parked on the grass and the 101 is across the drive. Maybe that's it's problem? The grass is always greener on the tarmac drive?
Anyway, it can stay there until i feel like getting under it again. Probably mid week. And i'll look at seeing if i can get the grinder in there to shave a couple of mm off the bellhousing between it and the head of the bolt. I'll try an imperial open ended first. If i can get the bolt out and the starter motor out of the way it'll give me more room to get the grinder in.
And there was me thinking it was starting to like me... :vb-looko:

Just pop round local stables and ask, then you can choose which one has best access and muck, they’re glad to get rid, we even have a tipper transit deliver fresh once a week but prefer the well rotted which was available within 5 mile

We have two piles, one fresh and one we've had a while ...

What did I do today? Well started off investigating a headlight earth issue, found the connection at fault and now I have 2 fully working headlights on the 110!

Then I binned the points/condenser and put in an electronic ignition kit, with a bit of bodging along the way. Surprisingly it actually fired up afterwards, so after a bit of timing adjustment I was out for a drive/dog walk. Productive afternoon I'd say.
