Disco was in today for it :/
Failed on a few things
Nearside and offside rear seat belt anchorage corroded 5.2.6

Trailer electrics "no bloody socket it use tow bar for recovery"
both batterys insecure "moor rust holding it in place than metal lol
offside reflector missing got ina fight with some mud" didnt think it would fail on that

also steering lock device insecure it wobbles never bothered me apprently 2 nut or sumet

both front inner wings have gone but thats an advisory

I've a tow ball fitted and no socket. Passed last two years. I thought that IF you had an electric socket fitted 12n rather than 7 pin then it had to work....only of you had one fitted.

Is it balls.
Unbolting things and putting them back on again every year for an MOT is pointless when you can do something properly once.

its two bolts......or faffing around trying to fit a plug, adding another hole for water to get in, having a stupid plug that you don't need etc

I'd just fit a NATO hitch and be done, if you don't tow they're the best recovery points. And in my case I can tow my sankey too....

The steering lock device one is puzzling me, as even when the lock is operating properly there is still some side to side rock to allow you to unlock the column.
Only the 12 pin electrics are tested, 7 pin need to be present but not necessarily connected, so get a socket with a good length of cable from the scrappy, cable tie it on and poke the wire up on top of the fuel tank :)

where the key goes into the ignition that ignition assembly moves? rotates ,

by any chance is the sill right next to a seat belt anchor as its puzzleing me atm ,
also as archers are not part of the mot i think , recone i can get away with repairing the battery boxs for now as ill be doing the rust busting archers in summer well would prefer to do it the as ive only got 10days left and skint due to christmas lol

the reflector i can just refit the sold one.

Same. I just cut my socket off and it passes. They only test if a socket is there, like spare tyre afaik

Eh? Since when was 7 wires a "faff" As for the "another hole" comment - there's these fabulous little inventions called "grommets" and no it's not an animated dog. ;)

Getting tools out twice a year unnecessarily is the real "faff" IMHO.

We do it every year, pull off the lift kit and fit standard springs and shocks and standard road wheels too, some of us even have to remove the bull bar if it aint present on the MOT certificate.

You guys don't know how lucky you are :(

Shame about the Disco Chris, but better now than a tug on the side of the road with the chappie from VOSA!!!

If you steering lock is loose you can just tighten it up
they usually have a shear bolt, you may be lucky and the head is still on so you can tighten it up, if not i usally tap them round with a center punch and then fit a bolt
good luck with the rest
