I recently swapped the LT95 in my land rover 101 for a LT95 from a Range Rover. I have had no experience of doing this before. I had to take it apart as when i was swapping the 101 primary pinion for the RR one the synchro balls and springs flew off everywhere after i inadvertently moved the gear lever with the bearing plate off. Everything went back in as it came out.
Having put it all back together and got it back into the 101 i am having major difficulty selecting 1st or 2nd gear. I can usually get 1st when i first start her up and then second but after this can not change down from 3rd or 4th at all. They are completley blocked. After reversing i can get 1st again....................sometimes.
I realise that i will have to take the box out again but if one of you technical chaps might be able to point me in the right direction as to possible causes then i will only be going back in half blind.
Any info would be greatly appreciated and may possibly stop my wife from going tight lipped and glaring at me when i say I'm just popping out to the garage for a minute.
