evening all. how can you tell when this is knackered? i get lots of bangs from the rear end and some clunks when pulling away, i suspect its the A frame but when i get underneath everything seems tight with no play? should i check with the weight of the axle??
Leave hand brake on & rock/rotate the wheel forward & bacward. You will see the nose of the diff lift up if knackered.

You can also put a bar in between the axle and the a frame arms & lever them up to check

I don't think mine is knackered though i haven't tested it fully, i did get lots of clanks from the rear end when travelling, turns out it was the hinged rear spare wheel carrier, strip down and new washers fixed that and it sounds a 100% better now, like a new car (well nearly!!) but i will test mine once the rain eventually stops!!!
